Conclusion

In conclusion, Tanjung Karang was really an experience to write home about. It helped me see other part of malaysia, for it is a place out of the busy city life and hustling. Tg. Karang it a serene place and the people are hear warming and welcoming. It is not an easy thing to open your house to total strangers for the sake of money or other things for people are not to be trusted, it takes more than trust and courage. It is kindness and faith (iman) yet these people trusted us and took us, to their homes and fed us for three days. I am really thanking my Lecturers Mr K and Jafni, for giving me a life-long experience. Not forgetting our foster home and the Dorani Homestay in general. Thank you and God Bless.

Day Three

Activity One: Scarecrow 
This day was the last day in Tanjung Karang. We got up as usual, went to the pickup center and gathered. One of the instructors took us to a paddy field. Here, we were taught how to make a scarecrow to scare animals and birds from destroying the farm produce.

We finished the scarecrow in no time, so we went back to the center to do a little game before heading home.

Activity Two: Eel Catching contest

The Eel contest was cool..as students' struggle to catch ne slippery eel and take it to their partners before time runs out. It was a contest on which group caught the most of eel. It was a girls' group that won.

Activity Three: Closing ceremony

With this, we marked the end of the activities in Tanjung Karang and head home Cyberjaya. The people that hosted us were all in attendance. They gave us a speech (though it was in Malay) but i guess it was a heart warming one. We said our goodbyes to our hosts and headed for Cyberjaya.

Day Two

Activity one: Traditional Cake & Local Chips
The next day we woke up early, had breakfast and headed straight to the traditional and local cake and chips house. It was a good thing to see how something one eats is being processed. the cakes and chips have been selling for many years around the country.

The cakes were delicious. i thought it won't be nice, but when i took a bite i had to finish and add more.

Day One

First Activity: Kite
The first activity we did after settling in our various homestay, was making kite. Sounds childish right? i know, that's what i felt at first. i remember when i was a kid , we used to make kites and fly them high in the sky. So, when i heard about our first activity i laughed it off, and said its pretty easy. later when our instructor started the kite i was like..wooohh this ain't like the one am used to, and its more professional-like than the ones i made when i was a kid. It was hard, but very good and strong.

The kite is made from the bamboo trunks found in the area. They are cut in accordance with the size and shape desired. Believe me, its a long process and takes patience with good sense of proportion not forgetting skills. Below are some pictures taken during the activity.

Introduction

Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'll be blogging about my field trip to Tanjung

Karang in Selangor, Malaysia. This is a project based on visual communication through Cyber Archiving. It was a three day school organized trip, for Beta 3 Multimedia Adverting Design II Class. It was a worthwhile experience, and i enjoyed being out of the city for a while. The three days were filled with different activities and experiences. I do hope you'll enjoy what I have to share with you about Tg. Karang

Tanjung Karang or sometimes spelled Tanjong Karang is a main fishing and paddy growing town in Selangor Malaysia. It is loosely translated into English as the " Cape of Corals" and it is located in the district of Kuala Selangor about 15 kilometers away from the town of Kuala Selangor. The town of Tanjung Karang is divided by Sungai Tengi river at the middle and connected with a bridge. Local Chinese minority living in the urban and sea side (Bagan) area, while most Malays live in rural areas and performed agricultural activities, particularly rice cultivation.

A Paddy Field

Tanjung karang is know for its agricultural activities, whic are mainly rice plantation and fishing. it is among the largest rice paddy field in Malaysia. The most of the folk there are into farming rice or fishing. The people there are heart warming and welcoming, and have a community kind of deeling where; everyone knows one another. We were hosted by the Dorani Homestay, where we were given Foster families for the rest of our stay.

My first thoght about the place was like..

"you gat to be kidding me right' we came all the way from Cyberjaya to a rice plantation? ohh boy! this going to be so boring!"  At the end of our stay, it was an experience to write home about.
